這日清晨，賈母聽說園景已經修好，便興致大起，命人備轎，要親自到園中遊賞。府中眾人聞訊，也紛紛隨行。
不久，一行人浩浩蕩蕩進入園中。賈母坐在軟轎之中，緩緩行進。她見四周花木清新，小橋流水，連連點頭說好。
寶玉與林黛玉並肩而行，一邊看景，一邊低聲談笑。
首先來到湖邊，只見新建的小橋橫跨水面，橋旁種著幾株垂柳。微風吹動柳枝，倒映在水中，顯得格外清雅。
賈母笑道：「這橋倒有幾分江南景致。」
寶玉聽了，笑著說：「若再添幾株海棠，便更好了。」
黛玉輕聲說：「海棠花開時，這裡一定更美。」
眾人又往前走，來到一處新建的小亭。亭子四周花草環繞，視野開闊，可以遠望整個園子。
幾位姑娘坐在亭中休息，丫鬟們端上茶點。大家一邊飲茶，一邊談論園中景色。
有人說湖邊最美，有人說亭子最雅致。眾人議論紛紛。
寶玉忽然說：「若在此處作詩，必定能寫出好句。」
黛玉笑道：「詩不在景，而在人心。」
寶玉聽了點頭說：「妹妹說得有理。」
賈母看著眾人談笑，心中十分高興。她說：「這園子修得好，以後你們常來遊玩，也算一處消遣之地。」
午後陽光明亮，整座花園在光影之中顯得格外生動。池水閃光，花葉搖動，景色如畫。
眾人一路走一路看，直到傍晚方才回府。
寶玉走在最後，回頭望了一眼整個園子。新修的亭台樓閣與花木相映成趣，仿佛一座人間樂園。
然而他心中忽然生出一種說不出的感覺。這樣的美景，也許並不會永遠不變。
而林黛玉站在不遠處，也靜靜看著這片花園。她的目光平靜，卻似乎帶著一絲淡淡的憂思。
榮國府的新園初成，眾人歡喜。未來在這座園子裡，還將發生無數故事。那些歡笑與感慨，也將隨著四季更替，一點一滴留在這片花木之間。

how naturally roles begin to settle.
And she understands that a new space does not erase the old order.
