In this world, heroes are not immune to judgment; instead, they are subject to strict regulation, and failure or disobedience leads to severe punishment. Those convicted are assigned to penal units, where they must undertake dangerous missions as a form of atonement. Unit 9004 stands as one such group, composed of individuals stripped of their former status and forced into a cycle of survival and obedience. The protagonist, once admired as a hero, is cast into this system after a defining incident, marking the beginning of his transformation from symbol to expendable asset. The missions assigned to the unit are often designed with little regard for survival, emphasizing both the brutality of the system and the disposability of its participants. Within the unit, relationships are shaped by tension and necessity. Some members accept their fate and follow orders without question, while others harbor resentment and seek ways to resist.
