English Version
According to Roman tradition, the city of Rome was founded on April 21, 753 BC, by Romulus, marking the legendary beginning of one of the most influential civilizations in history. The story tells of Romulus and his twin brother Remus, said to be descendants of the god Mars, who were abandoned as infants and raised by a she-wolf. As adults, they decided to build a city along the Tiber River, but a dispute over leadership led Romulus to kill Remus and claim authority as Rome’s first ruler. While the tale is rooted in mythology, it reflects deeper cultural themes of power, destiny, and identity in Roman society. Over time, Rome evolved from a small settlement into a dominant city-state and eventually the center of a vast empire spanning Europe, North Africa, and parts of the Middle East. The Roman Empire left a profound legacy in law, governance, engineering, language, and culture. Latin became the foundation of many modern European languages, and Roman legal principles continue to influence contemporary legal systems. The founding of Rome, whether myth or history, represents the symbolic birth of a civilization whose impact continues to shape the modern world.
