English Version
I believed the nightmare had ended when the last stone of the House of Usher disappeared beneath the earth. The valley lay silent behind me as dawn slowly spread across the hills. Then an unbearable pain pierced my mind. The landscape dissolved into darkness, and a single whisper reached my ears before consciousness faded. Your departure has not yet begun. When awareness returned, there was no light. I could neither stretch my legs nor raise my arms. Every movement met rough wooden walls pressing against my body. Damp soil filled the air with the smell of decay. Slowly, horrifying certainty emerged. I had awakened inside a coffin. Panic erupted without restraint. My fists pounded the lid above me while desperate cries vanished into layers of earth. Dust filtered through tiny cracks as splinters tore into my bleeding hands. The harder I struggled, the heavier the darkness became. Breathing turned difficult. Each breath carried less air than the one before. Just as despair threatened to consume every remaining thought, faint voices drifted through the confined silence. They did not belong to ghosts haunting the mansion. These were the forgotten voices of countless souls buried alive beneath the valley across generations. Each quietly shared the final moments of hope before surrendering to inevitable silence. Their stories held no anger. Only exhaustion remained. Running my fingers across the inside of the coffin, I discovered countless scratches carved into the wood. Some recorded names. Others marked passing days. One simple message appeared again and again: I am still alive. Hidden near the corner rested a worn metal fragment engraved with another sentence. The coffin is never your true prison. Fear is. Those words forced me to stop struggling. Instead of fighting blindly, I listened. Beneath my heartbeat came another sound. A slow rhythmic knocking echoed through the surrounding earth. I answered by tapping the coffin lid. The mysterious rhythm replied immediately. Hope returned for a single precious moment. Then everything shifted violently. Soil collapsed around the coffin as it slid downward through unseen tunnels beneath the valley. The descent seemed endless until sudden stillness returned. Without warning, the coffin lid slowly opened by itself. Pale blue light spilled inside. Rising cautiously, I found myself standing within an immense underground chamber filled with hundreds of coffins arranged in perfect rows. Every coffin trembled faintly, as though someone inside still breathed. At the center stood a solitary figure dressed entirely in black. His back remained turned as he spoke calmly into the silence. Everyone who enters the House of Usher must experience death once before truly leaving. He slowly turned toward me. My blood froze. The stranger possessed my face, my voice, my every feature, except his eyes contained nothing alive. They reflected endless emptiness, as though life had abandoned them centuries ago. A quiet smile crossed his expression. Welcome back, he whispered. Standing before my own impossible reflection, I could no longer distinguish memory from reality. Perhaps I had escaped the mansion after all. Or perhaps the person who believed he escaped had died long ago, leaving only another echo waiting beneath the earth for someone else to awaken inside a coffin and ask the same terrible question: who had truly been buried?
