Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods is the 18th theatrical film in the Dragon Ball series and the 14th film released under the Dragon Ball Z title. Set around four years after the battle with Majin Buu, the God of Destruction Beerus awakens from a long sleep and begins searching for the legendary “Super Saiyan God.” Goku’s encounter with Beerus leads to a new battle that changes the history of Dragon Ball.

沉睡多年的破壞神比魯斯醒來，從預言中得知宇宙中將出現一名能與自己匹敵的「超級賽亞人之神」。
得知擊敗弗利薩的賽亞人孫悟空後，比魯斯前往界王星尋找悟空。悟空興奮地向這名未知的強者挑戰，卻在超級賽亞人3的狀態下被比魯斯輕易擊敗。
之後，比魯斯來到布瑪的生日派對。為了保護家人與地球，達爾甚至放下尊嚴，以各種方法避免比魯斯發怒。
當比魯斯最終準備毀滅地球時，悟空得知「超級賽亞人之神」的傳說。眾人的力量集合起來後，悟空終於成功變身。

English Synopsis
Around four years after the battle with Majin Buu, a new threat emerges on Earth.
The God of Destruction Beerus awakens from a long sleep and learns of a prophecy concerning a legendary warrior known as the “Super Saiyan God,” who may possess the power to rival him.
After hearing about the Saiyan Goku, who defeated Frieza, Beerus travels to King Kai’s planet and confronts him. Excited to meet an opponent of an entirely different level, Goku challenges Beerus but is easily defeated even as a Super Saiyan 3.
Beerus later arrives at Bulma’s birthday party. Determined to protect his family and the Earth, Vegeta puts aside his pride and does everything he can to prevent Beerus from becoming angry.
When Beerus eventually threatens to destroy Earth, Goku learns about the legend of the “Super Saiyan God.” With the help of his fellow Saiyans, Goku finally achieves the transformation.
A battle that reaches the realm of the gods begins.

Another important feature is Akira Toriyama’s deep involvement from the screenplay stage. Much of the story and dialogue came from his detailed plot, with the film designed around the idea of “what if the original manga had continued?”
