《紅樓夢》第一回解析:石頭轉世與賈府命運的開端 |《Dream of the Red Chamber》Chapter One (Reimagined for Modern Readers)
Dream of the Red Chamber is more than a tale of romance—it is a reflection of human desire, decline, and illusion. Beginning with a myth beyond the mortal world, the story unfolds into the grandeur of an aristocratic household destined to fade. As a sentient stone enters the human realm, it witnesses love, luxury, and loss—revealing a world where everything brilliant is also fleeting.
「世人都曉神仙好,惟有功名忘不了;
世人都曉神仙好,只有金銀忘不了;
English Version
The story opens in a realm beyond time, where heaven and earth have yet to fully take form. Among the remnants of creation lies a forgotten stone—imbued with spirit, yet left unused. Over ages, it absorbs the essence of the universe and awakens with a single longing: to experience the human world.
Through fate, the stone is reborn as Jia Baoyu, heir to the powerful Jia family. Born with a jade in his mouth, Baoyu is marked from the very beginning as someone extraordinary—yet deeply out of place in a world governed by convention and ambition.
The Jia household appears magnificent: wealth, influence, and elegance define its surface. But beneath this polished exterior lies quiet instability. Relationships are layered with emotion, expectation, and unspoken tension.
Love and desire intertwine with status and illusion. What seems eternal begins to reveal its fragility.
This is not merely the story of a noble family—it is the beginning of a grand illusion, where beauty and decay exist side by side.
