The Medicine Seller senses that something has survived the chaos of past encounters, something powerful enough to threaten the very foundations of the palace itself. At the center of the story is Sachiko, the official consort of the Emperor, who finally gives birth to the long-awaited heir. Her joy is tragically short-lived when the infant dies unexpectedly, leaving her devastated and emotionally vulnerable. As grief spreads through the palace, hidden tensions begin to emerge. Political ambitions, ancient traditions, and secret alliances intertwine, drawing Sachiko into a dangerous web of manipulation and intrigue. A mysterious religious practice known as the Water Deity faith gains increasing influence among the palace residents, creating an atmosphere where devotion and fear become inseparable. Strange phenomena soon begin to plague the palace. Earthquakes resembling the movement of a giant creature shake the halls without warning. Unexplained sounds echo through hidden chambers. Servants die under horrifying circumstances, their bodies twisted by an invisible force. These events point toward the awakening of an ancient entity that has remained dormant for generations.
