English Version
In a distant age when the forces of nature ruled without question, the sun moved across the sky as an untouchable presence—constant, powerful, and beyond reach. Beneath that blazing arc lived a giant named Kua Fu, whose spirit could not be contained by the limits that governed others. While his people accepted the rhythm of the world, he found himself staring upward, wondering why such a force should remain forever beyond grasp. To him, the sun was not merely a source of life, but a challenge. The idea took root slowly, then consumed him entirely: he would chase the sun. When he declared his intention, those around him dismissed it as madness. The sky was not meant to be reached, and the sun was not meant to be pursued. Yet Kua Fu saw things differently. To accept limits without question was, to him, a greater defeat than failure itself. At dawn, as the first light broke across the land, he began his pursuit. Each step he took shook the earth. Mountains seemed smaller beneath his stride, rivers parted as he crossed them, and the horizon drew nearer with every movement. For a moment, it seemed as though he might succeed. The sun hung ahead of him, radiant and fierce, close enough to feel yet always just beyond reach. But the sun never stopped. It moved steadily westward, pulling him deeper into an endless race. The heat grew unbearable. His body, though immense, could not escape the toll of the journey. Thirst began to consume him, a relentless force that rivaled the sun itself. In desperation, he reached the great rivers. He drank from the Yellow River until its flow diminished, yet his thirst remained. He turned to another river and drank again, but still it was not enough. The land stretched before him, vast and unforgiving. His strength began to fade, but his resolve did not. Even as exhaustion overtook him, he refused to abandon his purpose. He pressed forward, driven not by hope of success, but by the refusal to stop. Eventually, his body could go no further. He collapsed upon the earth, his journey ending not in triumph, but in silence. Yet his story did not end with his fall. The staff he carried is said to have taken root, growing into a forest that would provide shade and nourishment to those who came after. In this way, his defiance transformed into something lasting. Kua Fu did not capture the sun, nor did he alter its path. But he left behind something just as powerful—a reminder that the act of striving, even against impossible odds, defines the spirit of those who dare. As the sun continues its journey across the sky each day, it carries with it the memory of a giant who once tried to reach it, not because he believed he could win, but because he believed the attempt itself mattered.
