Chapter 87|When Flowers Bloom: Life’s Perfect Timing
Flowers bloom in their own season and fade when their time has come. Life follows a similar rhythm. Some things arrive early, others later, yet every period of waiting has meaning. Perhaps life’s finest arrangements appear quietly when we are finally ready to receive them.

English Version
Spring slowly returned to the Grand View Garden. The coldness of winter had begun to fade, young leaves appeared upon the branches, and a few early blossoms moved gently beneath the morning light. Their fragrance travelled softly through the corridors, filling the garden with a quiet sense of renewal. Standing beneath a flowering tree, Baoyu watched a newly opened blossom for a long time. It was not the brightest flower in the garden, nor was it surrounded by countless others, yet it seemed completely content to bloom in its own season. There was no competition in its silence, no urgency in its opening. Looking at it, Baoyu remembered the many years behind him and the expectations he had once carried. He had often wished for certain things to happen sooner. He had wanted some people never to leave and had felt disappointed whenever life refused to follow the path he had imagined. But after so many seasons, he finally understood that life rarely follows our preferred timetable. The things we desire most urgently can sometimes prevent us from noticing the beauty already standing beside us. And the things we once believed had arrived too late may reveal, when they finally appear, that their timing was exactly right. He gently touched a branch and watched the petals tremble in the breeze. The flower did not blame itself because another blossom had opened first. The tree did not doubt the arrival of spring simply because winter had lasted longer than expected. They simply waited for their own season. Perhaps human beings could learn the same lesson. Along another path, Daiyu walked quietly through the garden. She noticed old leaves from winter still resting upon the ground while new shoots and unopened buds appeared above them. The meeting of old and new reminded her of her own journey. In earlier years, she had feared losing what she loved and often wished destiny would provide clear answers. Now she had learned to live with uncertainty. Some meetings cannot be forced, some farewells cannot be prevented, and some dreams cannot unfold according to the schedule we once imagined. Yet that does not mean life has gone wrong. Perhaps every experience has its own appointed moment, even if we cannot recognize that moment while we are waiting for it. Daiyu stopped beside a flowering tree and watched a bud slowly open beneath the sunlight. She suddenly realized that waiting, which once felt like punishment, could also be preparation. Waiting teaches patience. Loss teaches gratitude. Solitude teaches us who we truly are. When the right moment finally arrives, we may then possess the wisdom and strength needed to receive it. In the afternoon, sunlight filtered through the branches, creating moving patterns of shadow across the courtyard. Baoyu and Daiyu met beneath the flowering trees. Neither spoke about destiny or tried to predict the future. They simply watched the blossoms slowly opening around them. Baoyu finally said, “I used to think some things would have been better if they had happened earlier.” Daiyu looked toward the flowers and smiled. “Perhaps if they had happened earlier, they would not have become what they are now.” Baoyu remained silent for a moment before nodding. He suddenly understood one of life’s strangest truths. Many events appear unfair while we are living through them, yet years later they may reveal themselves as necessary parts of a larger arrangement. The things we did not receive may have protected us from roads that were never meant for us. The people we failed to keep may have taught us how to recognize those truly worthy of our love. And the long periods of waiting may have been preparing us to become the person capable of receiving the next chapter of our lives. As evening approached, the sky turned softly golden and petals drifted through the warm breeze. Baoyu looked at the flowers and felt a sense of peace he had not known for many years. He no longer needed to know exactly what tomorrow would bring. Nor did he need life to follow a perfect plan. He had begun to believe that if he simply walked sincerely along the road before him, life would eventually bring the right experiences at the right moment. Standing among the shadows of the flowers, Daiyu felt the evening breeze upon her face. She understood that flowers do not bloom because someone commands them to. They bloom because their season has arrived. Many of life’s most beautiful moments are the same. They do not appear because we chase them desperately, but because we become ready for them and happen to meet the right moment. Night gradually settled over the garden while the fragrance of flowers continued drifting through the quiet air. Baoyu and Daiyu walked slowly along the flower path, no longer desperate for answers and no longer frightened by the uncertainty of tomorrow. They knew there would still be storms and seasons of waiting, but they no longer needed to fear them. Life has its own rhythm. Flowers have their seasons, and people have their own time. The best arrangements in life are rarely visible at the beginning. Only years later, when we look back, do we sometimes realize that every delay, every turn, every meeting, and every loss quietly guided us toward the place we were meant to reach. Flowers bloom when their season arrives, and life follows the same mysterious rhythm. If we can trust time and continue believing in ourselves, the things truly meant for us will eventually bloom quietly, beautifully, and at precisely the moment when we are ready to receive them.
