The Evening Wind Remains: Voices Still Echoing Through Time
Some emotions continue echoing within the heart long after time has passed. They no longer arrive with intensity, but like evening wind drifting through quiet corridors, they gently remind us of the warmth and sincerity that once truly existed.

English Version
As the evening sun slowly disappears beyond the horizon, lanterns begin glowing one by one throughout the garden. A soft breeze drifts through the corridors carrying traces of flowers and cool moisture from the lake, wrapping the entire courtyard in a quiet and unhurried stillness. Standing near the water, Baoyu watches the reflections break apart beneath the wind and suddenly realizes that the things people remember most are rarely the dramatic moments. Instead, what remains are the smallest fragments once overlooked, footsteps shared beneath long corridors, the comfort of silent companionship, or a quiet evening spent simply watching the fading light together. Those ordinary moments become the hardest to forget. He begins to understand that people often mistake forgetting for freedom, yet true maturity comes from realizing that memories do not need to disappear in order for peace to exist. They can remain quietly within life like the evening wind itself, never disturbing the present, yet never truly leaving. Daiyu feels a similar calmness within the gathering night. Sitting beside the window, she watches shadows tremble softly beneath lantern light and realizes that the gentlest thing time can offer is not forgetting, but the ability to remember peacefully. She no longer fears certain names returning to her thoughts, nor feels unsettled by emotions that still linger within her heart. At last she understands that the people and moments that truly matter never vanish because of silence or distance. Instead they transform into a quiet strength that continues accompanying life through the passing years. The distance between them feels unusually gentle during this evening. They still speak very little and make no effort to move closer again, yet an understanding now exists between them that no longer requires explanation. Unlike before, it carries neither uncertainty nor longing, but the softness left behind after years of reflection. When they occasionally meet, there is no regret or desperate attachment remaining in their eyes. Only a quiet stillness, as though both have finally learned how to keep memories within the heart without allowing them to remain wounds. Through this calmness Baoyu gradually realizes that letting go does not leave a person empty. Instead it teaches them what is truly worth cherishing. Even those who cannot remain forever still shape the heart through the companionship and understanding they once offered. He no longer feels the need to hold tightly to permanence or fear the fading of emotion, because he finally understands that what matters most is not the ending, but the sincerity of what once existed. Daiyu discovers another kind of peace as the evening breeze passes softly by her window. She begins to believe that some relationships do not need to last forever in order to become unforgettable. Certain people may only walk beside us briefly, yet the light they bring during that time can continue warming even the loneliest years that follow. Fate itself feels quiet now, like wind moving gently through the night. It no longer rushes toward separation or reunion, but allows every emotion that once existed to settle slowly into time. And within that long stillness, people finally learn how to continue living gently beside the voices that continue echoing softly within their hearts.
