English Version
Carmen (1915), directed by Cecil B. DeMille and based on the story by Prosper Mérimée as well as its operatic adaptations, tells a powerful story of passion, freedom, and inevitable downfall. Set in Spain, the film centers on Carmen, a fiercely independent woman whose allure lies not only in her beauty but in her refusal to be controlled. She lives according to her own desires, treating love as fleeting and spontaneous rather than permanent or binding. Her presence disrupts the life of Don José, a disciplined soldier who becomes deeply infatuated with her.
