Rather than centering on the familiar Special Vehicles Section 2, the film shifts its perspective to two detectives, transforming the story into a hybrid of police procedural and science fiction thriller. Set in a futuristic Tokyo during the fictional year Showa 75, the narrative unfolds amid a series of mysterious attacks targeting Labors—large industrial robots integral to urban infrastructure. Detectives Hata and Kusumi are assigned to investigate these incidents, but their understanding of the case is shattered when they encounter a massive, unknown creature at a waterfront facility. This encounter redefines the investigation, revealing that the threat extends beyond conventional crime into the realm of bioengineering and military experimentation. Through forensic analysis of recovered tissue, the detectives begin to suspect that the creature is an artificially created biological weapon, raising profound ethical questions about science, control, and human responsibility.
