The film follows Mikako, an ordinary housewife trapped in a monotonous life shaped by the belief that “being normal is happiness.” Over time, this mindset suppresses her individuality and ambition, leaving her emotionally numb and directionless. Everything changes when she encounters luxurious gold products in a department store. What begins as curiosity quickly evolves into obsession, as gold becomes more than just a symbol of wealth—it represents uniqueness, power, and the possibility of becoming someone extraordinary. Portrayed by Rena Tanaka, Mikako’s transformation is both subtle and compelling, capturing the psychological shift from repression to reckless desire. Her first act of theft—a gold object worth one million yen—ignites a thrill she has never experienced before, setting her on a dangerous path. Soon, she escalates her ambition to an almost absurd level: stealing a gold tea bowl attributed to Toyotomi Hideyoshi, valued at an astonishing ten billion yen. This impossible plan reflects her deep yearning to break free from mediocrity and redefine her identity. As the story unfolds, complications arise through her interactions with Kaneshiro, an employee of the gold company, played by Win Morisaki. Their relationship is layered with manipulation, cooperation, and psychological tension, adding depth to the narrative.
