After escaping Cao Cao’s pursuit, Liu Bei remains without a stable base. To survive and rebuild, he seeks refuge with the northern warlord Yuan Shao. Though they share past connections, their alliance is shaped by calculation on both sides. This decision marks a temporary solution—and sets the stage for future conflicts.
歷經連番追擊與激戰，劉備終於暫時擺脫曹操的壓力。
然而，脫險並不等於安全。
他依然沒有穩固的地盤，兵力有限，處於極為不利的局勢。在這樣的情況下，單靠自身力量難以立足，必須尋求新的依附。
劉備將目光投向北方——袁紹。
袁紹此時勢力雄厚，坐擁廣大領土與充足兵力，是當今天下最強大的諸侯之一。若能依附其下，不僅可暫保安全，更有機會重新積蓄力量。
更重要的是，兩人過去曾有交情。

於是，他決定北上投奔。

Without territory or sufficient forces, Liu Bei remains in a vulnerable position. To endure and rebuild, he must seek support.
His attention turns north—to Yuan Shao.
At this time, Yuan Shao is the most powerful warlord, controlling vast lands and commanding large armies. Aligning with him offers Liu Bei both protection and an opportunity to regain strength.
