2001年3月24日，Apple 正式推出全新作業系統 Mac OS X。

首個版本為 Mac OS X 10.0，代號「Cheetah」。這套系統採用基於 Unix 的全新架構，取代自1980年代以來一直使用的 Classic Mac OS。

Mac OS X 同時引入標誌性的 Aqua 介面，包括半透明視窗、流暢動畫及全新的圖形設計，為電腦操作系統帶來嶄新的視覺體驗。

雖然初期版本在速度與穩定性方面仍有改進空間，但 Mac OS X 成為蘋果日後所有作業系統的基礎，包括 macOS、iOS 及 iPadOS 等。

On March 24, 2001, Apple officially released Mac OS X, a new operating system that would redefine the future of the Mac.
